President extends condolences following powerful earthquake off the coast of Mindanao, Philippines

His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has sent a message of condolence to His Excellency Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, following the powerful earthquake that struck off the coast of Mindanao on 8 June 2026.

In his message, President Dr Muizzu expressed profound sorrow upon learning of the earthquake, which has resulted in the tragic loss of lives and injury to many.

On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, the President extended deepest condolences to President Marcos, the government, and the people of the Philippines. He further conveyed heartfelt sympathies to those who lost their loved ones in the disaster.

Concluding his message, the President offered sincere wishes for the success of the ongoing recovery efforts.
