Tourism Ministry Urges Resorts to Confirm Flight Schedules Amid Middle East Unrest
The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has called on resorts and tourism service providers to carefully verify airline schedules before transporting guests to Velana International Airport, following widespread flight cancellations linked to the ongoing unrest in the Middle East.
Several Middle Eastern countries have closed their airspace, prompting airlines operating to and from the Maldives to cancel numerous flights. The disruptions have left a significant number of tourists stranded at the airport.
In response, the Ministry said it is coordinating closely with relevant authorities to assess the challenges faced by affected travelers and to ensure necessary assistance is provided.
The Ministry has advised all resorts and tourism establishments to thoroughly confirm any changes to flight schedules prior to arranging airport transfers for guests. It also urged travelers impacted by the cancellations to closely follow updates and guidance issued by airlines and relevant government agencies.
